The rules, fast
Nine-wicket croquet
Everything you need from the rulebook, minus the fine print. Read this — the quiz is built from it.

The court
Nine wickets and two stakes set in a double diamond. Start at the bottom stake, run the course up to the turning stake, then come back down.

Who plays
2 to 6 players with 4 or 6 balls. Four-ball order: blue, red, black, yellow. Six-ball: blue, red, green, black, yellow, brown.

Your turn
One stroke per turn. Run a wicket and you earn a bonus stroke. Hit the stake at the end and you're done.

Hit another ball (roquet)
Now you get a choice: take two bonus strokes from where you stopped, move a mallet-head away and take two, or set your ball against theirs and take croquet plus one more shot.

The foot shot
Put your ball against the one you hit, plant your foot on yours, and whack it — theirs flies, yours stays. Then take a continuation shot.

Out of bounds
No penalty. Place the ball back on the yard line (one mallet-length in from the edge) and keep playing.

Rovers
A rover has run every wicket but hasn't hit the final stake. Any ball can stake a rover out, any time.

Deadness
Optional. We'll keep it friendly and skip it unless your group votes otherwise.

Where to park
Pull in off Morton Rd and head up the driveway.
Park on the left-hand side of the driveway — before you get to the circle and the court (the yellow dots on the map).
Then walk up to the court at the top of the circle.
